Explanation of Table.
From the above table you can see a list of titles and degrees under each column. On the far left hand column you have the Signs of the Zodiac expressed, these apply to each of the rows across under each Sign.
Under the second column you find terms Masc. and Fem. these each stand for Masculine and Feminine degrees. Each Sign of the Zodiac contains masculine and feminine degrees.
The third column illustrates what degrees are masculine and which feminine. In order to read this you must understand that the layout of degrees is similar to that of the Terms in the Table of Dignities and Debilities. For example, under Aries we find that the first 8 degrees of Aries are Masculine, the 8th degree to the 9th degree are Feminine, the 10th degree to the 15th degree are masculine and the 16th to the 22nd degree are feminine and finally the 23rd degree to the 30th degree are masculine. This is how these degrees should be read for the entire column in every Sign. The use of these degrees is manifold, they are especially helpful in determining the sex of children. For if the cusp of the 5th House lands on a masculine degree, it adds one testament of having a boy (many more testaments need to be given for there to be a positive affirmation). This is also true if we find the Lord of the 5th also in a masculine Sign. This will produce a male offspring as well if other factors agree.
Under the fourth column you will find degrees which are Light, Dark, Smokey and Void. All of these degrees are useful in determining the complexion and understanding of the Native when found on the Ascendant, Lord of the Ascendant, Lord of the Geniture, the Moon, and Mercury specifically for the mental capacity and understanding of the Native. If Light degrees are found in these places, the Native is clear and bright; if Dark or Smokey than the Native is somewhat dark, hidden or obscure. If any of these significators fall on void degrees it illustrates the Native to be dull of wit, this is especially true if on the Ascendant and Mercury. These degrees are helpful especially in Horary questions and birth time rectification for they can help fix the degree of the Ascendant. In order to find which degrees are light, dark, smokey & etc. you must do as you have done with the masculine and feminine degrees. For example, the first 3 degrees of Aries are Dark, 4th to 5th degrees of Aries are Light, the 6th to 16th degree of Aries are Dark again, the 17th to 20th degrees are Light again, the 21st to 24th degrees are void and so on till 30. This applies to each of the Signs.
In the fifth column we see the title of degrees deep or pitted. If the Ascendant, Lord of the Ascendant, the Sun, or the Moon are found in any of these degrees the Native will be stupid and dull in his actions. These degrees are read easier as they are exact degrees. For example the Moon in 6 degrees of Aries is deep or pitted.
In the sixth column we have the title of degrees which are Azimen or Lame. If the Ascendant, Lord of the Ascendant, Lord of the Geniture, the Moon, or the Sun, are found in any of these degrees, the Native will be lame or defective in the part signified by the Sign. For example, if we find that the Ascendant of the Native is found in 6 degrees Leo, the Native will have a defective heart.
In the seventh and last column we find degrees increasing Fortune. These degrees illustrate when placed on the cusp of any House (especially the 2nd), the place of Jupiter, Venus, Part of Fortune that the Native shall gain riches through life. For example, if we find that the second House cusp falls in 1 degree Aries, we can state that the Native shall be rich and fortunate, especially through Martial activities or trades.
And thus concludes the treatise on the interpretations of each of the degrees of the Zodiac. It is important to analyze the degrees, especially on the Ascendant, but all throughout the chart in order to determine specific details concerning the Native. To neglect these small (but not insignificant) details can create an inaccurate or incorrect reading for these degrees add testimony to any promised action or event.
