The Houses are fictional divisions of the Heaven which illustrate different areas of life and just like the Zodiacal and Planetary sympathies or correspondences, they also correspond to different material matters in the sublunary world.
Since the Houses are quite important in interpretation of each chart, it seems appropriate to go through each House individually and touch on certain concerns and questions that revolve around their meaning. The first of these Houses is called the Ascendant, it is the chief angle of birth and the greatest definer of the native. The Ascendant can define all aspects of the individual from their mental skills, emoticons, as well as their physical appearance. The first House is where the Sun ascends in the morning.
The second House is a House of general weath and moveable goods. It follows after the 1st House and thus it aids the Native through his life. Many have mistaken the term "moveable goods" for the modern definition of the signular words, however this is incorrect. Moveable goods signifies something that is valued heavily and can easily be transport. For example, silverwear is a moveable good, it is valuable becuase of its precious metal content, antiquity, and social recognition and therefore it is considered a moveable good. Where as for instance, a lamp would have no value (to be considered a good) even if it is moveable. The student should be exceedingly careful in using the second House signification of this without taking the other Houses into consideration first. It is far to easy to consider something a moveable good simply because its not bolted down.
The third House is the House of siblings and communication. It is a cadent House that follows the second. Its significations are important in understanding the relationships between siblings and the natives ability to communicate effectively. This House also rules over short journeys and local churches.
The fourth House deals primarily with the father and his estate. It is the northern most House (found in the bottom of the chart) and therefore the heighest northern appex. This House is under the earth. This House can indicate how large of an estate the native will receive and also his relationship with his father.
The fifth House has signification over children and all information concerning the future offspring of the children can be determined from this House. Since this House is ruled over by Venus, it also signifies all the pleasurable and mirthy activities that Venus bestows thus making it the House of Pleasure.
The sixth House has dominion over a wide (and differing) variety of subjects. The first of these being over Health & Disease. The sixth House is generally a negative House unless the Lord of it is well placed and benevolent then its malice is abated. The sixth House also has rulership over servant and those who are servantile under the Native and their relationships together.
The seventh House is one of the main angles and therefore has quite significant significations associated with it. Since this House is in opposition ot the Ascendant it is seen as the House of direct enemies, since, like the opposition aspect, they are in direct view of the Ascendant.
The eighth House has always been considered the House of Death or the destruction of the Native. Death is inevitable and since it appears in everyones life, all aspects of death can be found in Astrology and through the individuals chart. Death is often seen as a taboo subject in Astrology but it is a very powerful tool in which all students of Astrology need to understand and know well.
The ninth House rules over all Godly matters, whether these be the church, clergy, visions and dreams and all other forms of worship. The ninth House has the ability to show the religion or at least the religious inclination of the individual and what beliefs they ascribe to. There is also an association with higher schooling and study. The ninth House is also the House of Astrologers.
The tenth House is the greatest House for achievement in the world. Since this House is the highest point in Heaven, it is seen as the apex of the achievements of the individual. Similar to that of a mountain, the House describes the Natives climb up to greatness from his birth (the Ascendant). It is one of the most fortunate Houses besides the House of Life (the Ascendant).
The eleventh House is the House of good fortune. It is also a very benevolent House but not as much as the tenth. The dreams of achievement are contained in this House. The eleventh House shows what dreams we have and the tenth House shows our dreams achieved.
The twelfth House is one of the most infortunate Houses. Its malevolency is hidden because it is out of the view of the Ascendant and therefore it does the greatest damage. An accidental benevolent twelfth House can show prosperous affiliations with large cattle. Death by large cattle can also be shown through this House.
Since the twelve Houses lay out everything the Astrologer needs in order to interpret everything, it is best to look finally at how to maximize all of the Houses to gain the greatest detailed interpretation. There was a technique used by all traditional astrologers that is quite ignored by their modern counterparts (for lack of knowledge of it or their lack of ability to use it) that had the ability to not only determine the life of the Native through their Nativity but also the lives concerning the people in that Nativity and the Natives life. This means that by using this technique, called House Revolutions, the Astrologer could find out if the Father of the Native owuld be rich or poor, whether his children would be obedient or disobedient, even the type of spouse their children would take. This is one of the most important techniques used in Astrology to obtain the greatest amount of material to interpret.
Here concludes the chapter concerning the system of Houses.
